While Republicans do not hold the same views on every issue, we have assembled a list of the beliefs held by the majority of registered Republicans:

  • I BELIEVE in the free-enterprise system and know it is responsible for America's growth and prosperity.
  • I BELIEVE that federal and state taxes should be as low as possible because money in the hands of the people create more jobs and prosperity than money in the hands of government.
  • I BELIEVE in peace through strength and that America must be the strongest military power on earth in order to maintain the peace.
  • I BELIEVE the rights of mankind come from God and not from the generosity of government.
  • I BELIEVE a nation, just like a family, cannot spend its way into prosperity.
  • I BELIEVE in the privatization of government activities whenever possible.
  • I BELIEVE the best government is that government most local to the people.
  • I BELIEVE people should have the right to work without being forced to join a labor union.
  • I BELIEVE federal spending should be limited by what is permitted by the United States Constitution.
  • I BELIEVE federal laws should be limited to what is permitted by the United States Constitution.
  • I BELIEVE we must all be good stewards of our environment, but that does not mean we must destroy our economy in the process.
  • I BELIEVE the government's role should be to reward and not punish success.
  • I BELIEVE in equal opportunity, not the government's enforcement of equal outcomes.
  • I BELIEVE the ten most frightening words are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."
  • I BELIEVE in the United States Constitution, including the Second Amendment.
  • I BELIEVE any government powerful enough to give you everything is powerful enough to take everything you have.
  • I BELIEVE in liberty and want the government to stay out of my personal life to the maximum extent possible.
  • I BELIEVE every adult citizen should pay a share of the tax burden, without exceptions.
  • I BELIEVE our borders must be protected and that people wanting to immigrate to America should do so legally.
  • I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity for all citizens.
  • I BELIEVE that hard work is one of the greatest means for providing family security.
  • I BELIEVE socialism is contrary to human nature and is threatening to destroy what is great about America.
  • I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide the people those functions that cannot be performed by individuals, and that the best government is that government which governs least.
  • I BELIEVE all parents, whether rich or poor, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, should have the right to send their children to the best schools of their choice. I believe all schools should compete for students and believe in the issuance of school vouchers to every parent in America.
  • I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that made America strong, free, and prosperous.
  • I BELIEVE America is an exceptional nation, a shining city on a hill, whose rightful role is leader of the free world.
  • I BELIEVE America should not intervene in the affairs of other nations except to defend ourselves from aggression, to enforce agreements and treaties, and to prevent genocide.
  • I BELIEVE the Constitution of the United States can be changed only by amending it. The Constitution is not a living document that can be reinterpreted and updated endlessly by liberal judges.

Conservatives vs. Liberals

Are you a conservative or a liberal?

The statements that follow reflect the beliefs of conservatives and liberals. When reading them, please keep in mind the following:

Most people want to accomplish the same objectives: economic prosperity, liberty, a clean environment, good health, and a crime-free society. The question is how do we accomplish these universal goals. There are differences between conservatives and  liberals:

The Issues: Conservatives vs. Liberals

Abolishing the Internal Revenue Service

Conservatives

Most conservatives favor abolishing the IRS and the highly complex, progressive income system that currently exists in the United States. Conservatives favor a fair tax which is a federal sales tax applied at the point of purchase on all new goods and services for personal consumption. Conservatives understand that a sales tax would result in taxing illegal activity and illegal immigrants. Under a fair tax, or federal sales tax, higher income people, who consume more goods and services, would pay more than lower income people who spend less on goods and services. Establishing a fair tax would eliminate the need for tens of thousands of IRS employees and would save the taxpayers of America billions of dollars. It would also eliminate the ability of the IRS to target Conservatives, Christians, Republicans, Pro-life Supporters, Second Amendment Supporters, and others disfavored by the political left. The U.S. Federal Tax Code has been expanded to 72,536 pages under the Obama Administration. It is far too complex for nearly every taxpayer which results in unfair penalties and interest being charged to millions of taxpayers. Most importantly, Conservatives object to the fact that the IRS can seize a person’s bank account, savings account, retirement account, residence, and business long before the person is convicted in a court of breaking any law. In America, only the IRS has such power.

Liberals

Liberals control the IRS through the Democratic Party and The National Treasury Employees Union and have a vested interest in making the tax system more and more complex. Liberals understand that control of the IRS, and its employees, results in the delivery of tens of thousands of votes to the Democratic Party and millions in campaign contributions. Liberals deny the IRS is involved in the organized targeting of Conservatives, Christians, or others for special audits or other harassing activities.

Abortion

Conservatives

Conservatives believe in science which acknowledges that life begins at conception, and therefore, abortion is the destruction of a human life. After 22 days from conception, abortion stops a human heart from beating. Conservatives believe that only God has the moral right to end the life of an innocent human being and prefer adoption to abortion. Conservatives oppose taxpayer paid abortions and support laws to prohibit partial birth abortions which involve the killing of late term, unborn babies using this method. Partial birth abortions involve pulling the unborn baby partially outside the birth canal with forceps and then inserting a sharp tube into the baby’s neck, allowing the brain tissue to be suctioned out. By leaving the baby partially inside the birth canal, the baby is not “legally born” which means it is not a person according to current law. Since the baby is not a person according to the law, murder charges do not apply. Conservatives ask liberals the following question: If the unborn is not a human life, what type of life is it?

Liberals

Liberals believe the unborn are not human beings and have no moral or legal rights. Liberals believe the mother of the unborn should have the absolute, unconditional right to destroy the unborn including the use of partial birth abortion in late term pregnancies. Liberals believe the government should use our tax dollars to provide “free abortions” upon demand.

Affirmative Action

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that affirmative action or reverse discrimination is a form of discrimination and that all forms of discrimination based on race or color are wrong and should be illegal. Conservatives believe in equal opportunity for all people, and that people should be admitted to schools and employed based exclusively on their merits. Conservatives believe that schools and employers, including the government, should be color-blind. Conservatives believe that affirmative action is demeaning to minorities and sends the incorrect message that they cannot compete.

Liberals

Liberals believe that America is a racist society that denies equal opportunities to certain minorities such as Blacks and Hispanics, but not to Asians. Liberals believe that Blacks and Hispanics need the assistance of the federal government to provide a level playing field and to compensate for past discrimination, including discrimination by prior generations. Since statistics indicate that Asians have performed well above average in obtaining entry into colleges and universities, and earn incomes above average, according to liberals, they should yield to Blacks and Hispanics who deserve affirmative action enforced by the government.

Charity

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that charity consists of gifts or other acts of benevolence intended to help other people in need. Conservatives believe that charity is a voluntary act that comes from the heart and their own pockets. Conservatives consistently give far more of their incomes and assets to private charities than liberals. Conservatives believe government spending is not charity and point out that giving away someone else’s money is not charity.

Liberals

Liberals believe they are charitable because they advocate government redistribution of income and wealth from those that earn higher incomes and have more wealth, to those with less income and less wealth. Liberals believe that taxing and spending on social and redistribution programs is charity even though the money is being taken involuntarily from one group and given to another group.

Confiscation of Military Grade

Equipment from Police

Conservatives

Conservatives want our nation’s police forces to have the equipment needed to fight terrorists and stop riots. Conservatives believe our police forces need armored vehicles for protection, military grade body armor for protection, bullet resistant face masks and helmets, tactical pants with knee protection, military grade protective boots, and semi-automatic rifles that match the firepower of the weapons terrorists have available. Conservatives want our police to have the maximum in protection and firepower so they can do their jobs with the least amount of personal risk.

Liberals

Liberals are more concerned about our police having the appearance of an “occupying force” than with the safety of our police and the citizens of our communities. Liberals want the federal government to confiscate all armored vehicles from our nation’s police departments and all equipment that makes our law enforcement officers look like soldiers even at the expensive of safety. Liberals are more concerned about appeasing those who distrust the police than in dealing with terrorists and those who riot, burn, and loot, given the opportunity.

Conscience Protection Act

Conservatives

Conservatives support and have attempted to pass legislation that would prohibit the government or private parties from taking legal action against physicians and other health care providers, including hospitals, for simply refusing to perform or be involved in providing abortions. Conservatives believe it is unconscionable that a physician’s license can be revoked, or he or she can be refused admitting privileges to a hospital or medical center because their religious convictions will not permit them to destroy a human life.

Liberals

Liberals have consistently objected to any form of legislation that would allow a licensed health care provider to refuse to participate in performing abortions. Liberals take the position that the unborn are not children. Consequently, they believe that performing abortions does not involve a moral issue that warrants any form of legal protection.

Constitution of the United States

Conservatives

Conservatives believe the Constitution means exactly what the founding fathers wrote in plain English and that courts in the United States should not read anything into the Constitution that is not stated explicitly. Conservatives believe courts should determine whether laws passed by Congress and state legislatures are constitutional or not, but should never find hidden meanings in the Constitution in order to justify a political objective, regardless of its merit. Conservatives believe that all laws and spending must be authorized by the Constitution. Conservatives are strict constructionists in reading the Constitution and believe any changes or additions to the Constitution must be made by amending the document strictly as set forth in the document.

Liberals

Liberals believe the Constitution is a “living document” that can be changed through liberal interpretations of the document. They believe the document can evolve and change with the times based upon what the courts decide, making it possible to bypass the amendment process. Liberals tend to find “meanings” in the Constitution beyond the words set forth in the document and are unwilling to restrict new laws and the spending of money to what is specifically authorized. Liberals simply do not believe in a strict interpretation of the Constitution.

Cuba

Conservatives

Most conservatives believe the United States should continue its trade embargo against Cuba until it restores basic civil rights to its people, including freedom of speech and the press, and compensates American citizens and companies whose property (including bank accounts) was seized after Fidel Castro and his communist followers took over the government at the end of 1959. Conservatives also want Cuba to permit fair elections before the United States terminates its trade embargo.

Liberals

Most liberals want to normalize relations with the communist government notwithstanding its oppressive conduct towards its own people, and are willing to accept the seizure of American assets without the payment of any compensation. Liberals do not insist that Cuba allow fair elections, or permit freedom of speech and the press before terminating the United States trade embargo.

Death Penalty

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that each state should have the right and freedom to determine what is an appropriate punishment for various state crimes. Conservatives believe the death penalty is not a cruel or unusual punishment and is appropriate for the crime of murder when DNA evidence is available to prove to a jury of twelve, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the accused is guilty. Conservatives point to the Holy Bible as establishing the justification for the death penalty.

Liberals

Liberals want to abolish the death penalty and consider it cruel and unusual punishment. Liberals continue to argue that an innocent person may be executed, notwithstanding the availability of DNA evidence and science. Liberals do not place any weight on the Bible when considering the reasonableness of the death penalty for certain crimes.

Desecration of the American Flag

Conservatives

For many years, conservatives have unsuccessfully attempted to pass laws in Congress, and have tried to enact a Constitutional Amendment, making it unlawful to desecrate the American Flag. Most conservatives reject the position of liberals that flag desecration should be a form of protected speech.

Liberals

Most liberals take the position that desecration of the American Flag, including spitting on it, urinating on it, defecating on it, and burning it, is a form of free speech that is worthy of protection. Liberals in Congress have consistently fought the attempts of conservatives to protect the honor of our nation and its flag.

Drug Testing for Unemployment Compensation

Conservatives

Most conservatives favor permitting states to require drug testing as a requirement for receiving unemployment compensation and allowing each state to establish criteria for allowing or disallowing an unemployed person to receive benefits. Conservatives point out that every state requires a person collecting unemployment compensation to be available to take a job and that drug testing is one means for determining whether an applicant is able to work. Conservatives also object to paying benefits to people who are spending taxpayer money on illegal drugs.

Liberals

Liberals object to any form of mandatory drug testing as a requirement for receiving unemployment compensation on the stated grounds that such testing invades the privacy of these individuals. Liberals believe the right to privacy of the unemployed outweighs the rights of those who pay the cost of unemployment compensation. Liberals also believe that recipients of benefits should not be restricted on how they spend their benefit checks. They believe it is acceptable to use taxpayer paid benefits for alcohol, recreational marijuana, and tobacco.

Energy

Conservatives

Conservatives understand the laws of supply and demand and know that increased drilling will lead to more oil and natural gas production, lower prices, a stronger economy, higher levels of employment, and less dependence on oil imports from countries unfriendly to the United States. Conservatives believe that wind and solar power will help, but will never supply sufficient energy to power America.

Liberals

Liberals believe that wind and solar power are the keys to providing Americans with the energy needed to supply our economy. Liberals want to control the oil, coal, natural gas, and electric power industries and seek to minimize drilling on both government and private land because of concerns over carbon emissions generated by the use of fossil fuels.  Liberals want to destroy the coal industry in America.

Enforcement of the Law

Conservatives

Conservatives believe in the rule of law, not in the rule of men. Conservatives believe in following the Constitution of the United States. Conservatives believe that once a law is created by a legislature, it should be enforced by law enforcement without exceptions. Enforcement should be mandatory, not discretionally so that everyone is treated equally. Conservatives believe that if a law turns out to be a bad law, the legislature that passed the law, can re-evaluate the situation and either modify the law or repeal it. This has been the American system up until 2008 and has often been referred to as “equal treatment under the law”.

Liberals

Liberals believe that, contrary to the Constitution of the United States, states and cities are not bound by federal laws they don’t like. Liberals have supported sanctuary cities for illegal aliens and sanctuary states for illegal aliens. They also advocate that cities and states ignore federal drug laws. In addition, liberals have consistently objected to the government providing Americans certain protections guaranteed under the United States Constitution such as religious freedom, the right to bear arms, and the right of free speech on college and university campuses.

Enterprise Zones

Conservatives

Conservatives favor the creation of Enterprise Zones, also known as Urban Enterprise Zones, by state and local governments. Enterprise Zones are areas in which businesses can locate operations free of state and local taxes and certain government restrictions for a defined period of time, generally over ten years. Conservatives understand that when enterprise zones are made available to private businesses, the businesses can multiply their ability to produce goods and services while creating training programs, and good paying jobs in communities that would otherwise be ignored by private enterprise. Conservatives understand that the taxes not paid and collected, are not a cost to the taxpayers, because the business operations established in enterprise zones are new operations that would not otherwise be paying taxes. In fact, enterprise zones create tax revenue because every new worker must pay state and federal taxes on their income, and state sales taxes on nearly everything they purchase.

Liberals

The majority of liberals have opposed the creation of enterprise zones or have supported them on a very limited basis. Most liberals do not favor aggressively utilizing the free enterprise system in partnership with state and local governments to cure poverty in highly depressed areas. Liberals have tended to prefer various means to redistribute income and wealth from those who have income and wealth to those who don’t.

Equality

Conservatives

Conservatives believe the goal of equality should mean that all people should have an equal opportunity to succeed based on their merits, talents, and hard work, and that all people should be treated equally under the law. Conservatives believe there should be no laws that discriminate against any group of people, and likewise, no group should be given any advantage by the government over another group. Conservatives do not believe it is the role of the federal government to guarantee the equality of incomes by taking wealth from one group and giving it to another group.

Liberals

Liberals believe it is the role of the federal government to manage the national economy in order to promote the equality of income. Liberals promote the equality of income by supporting the progressive income tax, the earned income tax credit which is a subsidy to those who have either no income or modest income, various welfare benefits, inheritance and gift taxes, and various subsidies such as Obamacare. Their objective is to transfer wealth to their constituents.

Euthanasia and Physician-Assisted Suicide

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that neither euthanasia nor physician-assisted suicide should be made legal and that only God has the moral right to end the life of an innocent human being. Conservatives believe that terminally ill people should be treated with compassion and that their suffering should be minimized to the extent possible.

Liberals

Most liberals want to legalize euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide in order to reduce the cost of medical care and to allow people who are terminally ill, or who are unable to care for themselves, to end their lives.

Fair Tax

Conservatives

Conservative are advocates for a fair tax which is a federal sales tax applied at the point of purchase on all new goods and services for personal consumption and the abolition of the federal income tax and the IRS. The rate most commonly mentioned is 23%. Conservatives argue that a sales tax would result in maximizing tax revenue by taxing illegal activity and illegal immigrants because there is no way to avoid paying such taxes.

Liberals

Liberals control most of the federal agencies including the IRS and are not willing to give up that control. Liberals argue that a federal sales tax would unfairly tax those at the lower end of the income scale such as illegal aliens and welfare recipients who tend to support the Democratic Party.

Foreign Aid

Conservatives

Conservatives believe foreign aid should be reduced overall and strictly limited to situations and where it can be confirmed that the money is reaching the intended recipients. Conservatives believe foreign aid should be limited to: (1) Assisting persecuted Christians and Jews; (2) Providing humanitarian assistance to victims of natural disasters when a country is overwhelmed and genuinely needs our assistance in helping those in need; (3) Providing technical assistance in helping other nations increase their ability to feed their population, fight drug cartels, or provide health care; and (4) Providing military assistance to our friends who need such assistance and do not have the ability to pay for it. Conservatives also believe: (1) Recipients of foreign aid should be expected to support the United States in the United Nations; (2) Foreign aid should never be used to help subsidize foreign businesses that compete with U.S. owned businesses; (3) America should not borrow money so we can provide foreign aid to other countries except in extreme emergencies; (4) Interest bearing loans should be made in lieu of foreign aid when possible; and (5) Recipients of foreign aid should be required to purchase U.S. made products with the aid dollars to the extent possible.

Liberals

Liberals believe foreign aid should not be reduced and that it is insulting to the leaders of other countries when we dictate how the money must be spent. Liberals believe the recipients of the aid know best about how and where the aid dollars should be spent in order to maximize its effectiveness in their country. Liberals believe foreign aid is a good investment by the United States most of the time.

Four-day Work Week

Conservatives

Conservatives favor allowing employers and individual employees the freedom to schedule four, ten hour work days each week instead of the customary five, eight hour work days each week if it is mutually agreeable. Larger employers with lots of employees have the flexibility to offer the shorter work week and some employees favor the shorter work week. Current state and federal laws make it either extremely difficult or impossible for employers to offer the shorter work week. Aside from the personal benefit some employees would derive from the arrangement, our overall economy and environment would benefit substantially if employers and employees had the freedom of choice. Clearly, fuel consumption and wear and tear on employee vehicles would be reduced. In addition, staggered work hours would reduce traffic, save commuting time, reduce fuel consumption, and improve the quality of our air. Conservatives believe industries that benefit from travel and recreation would prosper since many families would have longer weekends.

Liberals

Liberals and labor unions are not in favor of allowing employees to work more than 8 hours in one day without overtime compensation. This effectively precludes employees from having the option of working a shorter work week. Liberals and labor unions are not agreeable to allowing employees to have the freedom to determine what is best for themselves and their families.  Liberals and labor unions have taken the position that they know what is best for every employee.

Genocide - Armenian

Conservatives

Conservatives support the position that the United States should officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. The holocaust involved the systematic extermination of more than one million Armenians, starting in 1915, by the Ottoman government, now the Republic of Turkey.

Liberals

Most liberals support the position of the Republic of Turkey, that a genocide or holocaust never took place and attribute the torture and deaths to causalities of World War I.

Global Warming

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that the current trend is toward global warming. However, conservatives are also aware that the planet has warmed and cooled many times over the years notwithstanding the level of fossil fuels burned by humans and the level of carbon dioxide produced. Conservatives point out that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is only 397 parts per million and that carbon dioxide is needed for all plant life on earth to survive. Conservatives are aware that proposed regulations for reducing carbon emissions in the United States will put America at a substantial competitive disadvantage because China, India, Russia, Brazil, and none of the European countries will match the strict regulations existing or proposed in the United States. In addition, conservatives are aware that if none of the proposed regulations are forced on American industry, it will take more than 50 years to increase the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from 397 parts per million to 500 parts per million, assuming the projections of the most pessimistic environmentalists are accurate.

Liberals

Liberals believe that global warming is at a crisis level and that American industry must be forced to reduce carbon emissions notwithstanding the fact that no other nation on this earth is willing to follow the regulations proposed by the political left. Liberals insist that strict regulations and new taxes are needed immediately to save the planet, notwithstanding the anticipated harm to the economy of the United States including the massive loss of jobs.

Gun Control

Conservatives

Conservatives believe the words written in the United States Constitution, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,” means exactly what it says. Conservatives believe people have the right to protect themselves and that gun control laws do not prevent criminals from obtaining guns. Conservatives know that statistics prove that guns in the hands of responsible, law-abiding adults reduces crime. Conservatives believe the mandatory registration of all guns is the first step toward the confiscation of all guns by the government.  See Pro Gun Sayings.

Liberals

Liberals interpret the words in the United States Constitution “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” as meaning people do not have the right to keep and bear arms. Liberals want law-abiding people to give up their guns and believe that a law will cause criminals to voluntarily give up their guns.

Health Care

Conservatives

Conservatives are in favor of a private, free market health care system and believe that government should not control who receives health care. Conservatives believe that a single payer government run program will lead to higher costs, longer waiting times for appointments and surgeries, and rationing. Conservatives believe the best way to address the needs of the very poor is to provide them with vouchers that can be utilized in a private system.

Liberals

Liberals want a single payer, government controlled health care system where every person receives the same benefits, to be determined by the federal government. Liberals believe a socialistic health care system is best because they believe the wealthy should pay for the poor. Liberals believe health care should not be paid for by individuals, but should be provided by the government as a right, paid for through taxes levied on those who earn the most money.

Homeland Security

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that profiling is a legitimate and beneficial law enforcement and investigative procedure that should be employed to keep our citizens safe. Conservatives acknowledge that since the first World Trade Center bombing in February of 1993, more than 99% of all terrorists have been Muslim men between the ages of 19 and 39. Conservatives believe that our attention at airports and other key locations should focus on the groups most likely to include terrorists rather than using our limited resources to search grandmothers confined to wheelchairs who are traveling with family members.

Liberals

Liberals are so concerned with political correctness that they insist on treating three men with long beards in their twenties, dressed in Muslim style clothing, the same as a grandmother confined to a wheelchair traveling with her daughter and granddaughter. Liberals believe that the harm caused by offending those who would be selected for additional scrutiny outweighs the benefits obtained by the use of profiling.

Homosexual Marriage

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman and that the sanctioning of homosexual marriage by government violates the moral and religious beliefs of millions of Christians, Jews, and Muslims. Conservatives point out that homosexuals can enter into domestic partnerships in every state.

Liberals

Liberals believe that homosexuals should have the right to get married, notwithstanding the teachings found in the Holy Bible.

Immigration

Conservatives

Conservatives favor legal immigration and oppose open borders leading to uncontrolled illegal immigration. Conservatives want the federal government to close what are now relatively open borders inviting tens of thousands of immigrants to enter the United States each year without permission. Conservatives understand that foreign terrorists are able to take advantage of open borders creating sleeper cells that can attack Americans on their time table. Conservatives are aware of the fact that nearly all illegal aliens will vote for the Democratic Party upon gaining citizenship and that many will illegally vote for Democrats even though they are not citizens. In short, nearly every illegal alien is a future Democratic voter.

Liberals

Liberals do not publically advocate for open borders because they understand it is not a popular position. Notwithstanding, liberals obstruct every attempt to secure the borders of the United States knowing that nearly 100% of all illegal aliens will vote as Democrats at some point in time. Liberals take the position that it is not possible to build a 1,300 mile wall, yet the Chinese built a 13,000 mile wall centuries ago.

Infrastructure

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that a substantial portion of the tax dollars being spent on social programs, intended to reduce the effects of long term unemployment, should be diverted and spent on needed infrastructure projects around the country. Conservatives believe government contracts with private companies, who directly employ American citizens, will do far more to increase the number of long-term, good paying private jobs that are available (reducing poverty), than direct payments by the government to those not working. The number of infrastructure jobs that could be created are almost limitless and include both skilled and entry level jobs. These jobs include repairs to roads; highways; bridges; airports; public buildings, including libraries, schools, and courts; tunnels; power plants; dams; reservoirs; water and electrical pipelines; waste treatment plants; and the nation’s electrical grid. Conservatives know the expansion of roads and highways will also result in less traffic which means cleaner air, less wasted time, and far less consumption of fuel, all of which save money and benefit our people and the economy.

Liberals

Liberals believe in making improvements to our infrastructure, but prefer to prioritize direct payments, by the federal government, to the unemployed and those in poverty. Liberals tend not to believe in the ancient saying: “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Internet Taxes

Conservatives

Conservatives are against internet taxes in any form. Conservatives believe such taxes would be an unreasonable restraint on free speech and would be highly damaging to the economy. Such taxes would also open up door to allowing the government access to internet searches which would invade privacy. Conservatives believe citizens should be free of government intrusion into their lives to the maximum extent possible.

Liberals

Many liberal legislators have advocated a number of means for taxing users of the internet including: (1) An access tax based upon the number of hours a user is on-line, (2) A tax on every email sent, (3) A tax on every email received, (4) A tax on establishing an email account, (5) A tax on creating a website, (6) A monthly tax on the ownership of websites based on the number of pages, and (7) A tax for accessing certain types of websites such as those that offer porn.

Israel - Support

Conservatives

Conservatives believe it is in the best interest of the United States to provide political, economic, and military assistance to Israel. Conservatives recognize that Israel is a reliable ally that shares the values of most Americans. Conservatives understand that Israel is surrounded by its enemies, enemies of the Jewish people, and enemies of the United States. Conservatives believe our nations should stand together and support each other in the war against worldwide terrorism.

Liberals

Most liberals say they support Israel, but insist that Israel give up land to the Palestinian Authority which is controlled by the terrorist group Hamas. Liberals believe that giving up land that currently provides protection to Israeli citizens will result in peace. Most liberals are willing to overlook the fact that the governing charter of Hamas explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and that Iran has repeatedly called for the destruction of the United States and Israel.

Labor Unions

Conservatives

Conservatives believe workers should have the freedom to join labor unions to engage in collective bargaining in order to improve their wages, benefits, and working conditions. Conservatives also believe the following concerning labor unions: (1) The board of directors of labor unions should be elected by the members annually by secret ballot, (2) The compensation of union officers, directors, and employees should be disclosed to the membership of unions, (3) Dues collected from the members should not be diverted to politicians unless approved by secret ballot by at least 60% of the total membership, (4) The books and records of every labor union should be audited annually by an independent CPA firm with the report being distributed to the members, (5) Membership should be completely voluntary and not coerced, (6) Strikes should be called only by a 60% vote of the membership and members should be given a two week notice before a strike in commenced, (7) Strikes should be ended whenever 50% of the membership votes to end a strike with members being given the opportunity to vote every 10 days, and (8) Union rules should not prohibit members from meeting independently to discuss union business. Conservatives believe the existence of labor unions is consistent with the fire enterprise system and liberty, but recognize that the need for labor unions has declined over the years as laws have been enacted to protect employees.

Liberals

Liberals are strong advocates for labor unions and the majority strongly believes that membership and the payment of dues should be mandatory for all employees in large companies and for all government employees. Liberals do not agree that voting for board members and officers should require secret ballots. Liberals believe labor unions should be free to use members’ dues for political contributions that each board believes will benefit the union. With mandatory membership and mandatory dues for all employees in large companies and all government jobs, combined with the absolute discretion to make political contributions by union boards, liberals know that nearly all political contributions made by unions will benefit liberal politicians and the Democratic Party.

Minimum Wage Laws

Conservatives

Conservatives understand that minimum wage laws fix the price of wages that must be paid and are a rejection of the irrefutable law of supply and demand. Conservatives know that when the price of something, including wages, is fixed by the government at a level above what the law of supply and demand would determine the price to be, there is a predictable result: the loss of jobs and the human suffering that follows. Conservatives understand that every working person, including those not earning high wages, need their jobs and cannot afford to be unemployed. Conservatives understand that when the minimum wage is set by law above the market level for wages, companies turn to self-service, machines, and other labor-saving methods to remain competitive in the market; otherwise they will lose business to competitors and possibly be forced to close their business. Conservatives understand that nearly all jobs that pay the minimum wage are entry level, temporary jobs requiring few skills. Conservatives understand that supporting a family requires a job paying well-above the minimum wage. These jobs require skills built on experience, training, and education.

Liberals

Liberals ignore the economic law of supply and demand and focus on appearing to be compassionate and supportive of those earning low wages. Liberals understand that promising a significant increase in the minimum wage will appeal to their constituency because voters that receive the minimum wage are not likely to understand that many of them will lose their jobs as a result of arbitrary higher than market determined increases. Liberals do not consider the fact that employers are likely to reduce jobs with self-service, machines, and other labor-saving methods to remain competitive and in business.

National Defense - Military Spending

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that peace is attained through military strength and that the United States must have a military that is so powerful that no nation would dare challenge it. Conservatives believe that our active duty military personnel should be paid far better and should receive far better benefits, including both lifetime health and retirement benefits. Conservatives believe our military must be able to fight two wars at one time in order to provide security to our citizens.

Liberals

Liberals have been willing to sacrifice the strength of our military in favor of providing citizens and non-citizens with more social programs including welfare benefits. Liberals have consistently reduced military spending based upon wishful thinking.

National Pipelines

Conservatives

Conservatives believe in building oil pipelines in the United States in order to transport oil from production areas to refining and transportation sites. Conservatives believe such pipelines are safe and efficient ways to transport oil and will result in increased employment and prosperity for the American people. Conservatives believe pipelines can also be used to transport water from areas that regularly experience flooding because they have too much rain and water, to those areas that have too little rain and water. Such pipelines could reduce flooding and droughts and would save billions of dollars that could be used to strengthen America.  Transporting water from areas of excess to areas in need of water would increase property values and would reduce the cost of producing food.

Liberals

Liberals are against the construction of pipelines across the country because they believe pipelines can potentially harm the environment. They prefer to move oil by trucks and trains across the country and have no plans to pump water from one location to another.

Paying Felons Not to Commit Crimes

Conservatives

Conservatives believe the concept of paying felons who have been released from prison monthly compensation is absurd and is part of the plan by liberals to provide “free stuff” in order to buy votes. Conservatives reject the position of liberals that the payments create an incentive to cease committing crimes. Conservatives reject the attempt of liberals to prove by statistics that the “free” money is reducing crime. Conservatives believe the threat of severe prison sentences is the appropriate way to discourage crime and reject the “new protection racket” being advocated by the political left. Conservatives expect everyone to obey our laws without paying bribes to certain groups.

Liberals

Liberals support using the tax dollars, paid by the 53% that pay federal income taxes, to subsidize felons who have been released from prison. Liberals believe that by giving felons money, they won’t continue to commit crimes. Liberals believe that paying a drug dealer $9,000 per year will result in the felon giving up their drug business.

Police

Conservatives

Conservatives support local control of police departments and believe the state and/or federal governments should get involved in investigating or supervising local police departments only under the most extreme conditions. Conservatives understand that the profession of policing is very challenging, requiring highly trained individuals who are willing to risk their lives in order to protect our citizens. Conservatives believe our police deserve the best training and equipment available, as well as generous salaries, health care benefits, and pensions.

Liberals

Liberals tend to be suspicious of the police and do not trust local police departments. Liberals are willing to use nearly any justification for having federal authorities investigate local police departments, leading to oversight and control by the federal government.

Property Rights

Conservatives

Conservatives are strong believers in the right to own property subject to the Constitution of the United States. The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. Conservatives believe the Constitution means exactly what it says in plain English. Conservatives believe that freedom exists only where the right to own private property exists. Conservatives believe in the strict interpretation of the Constitution including the Fifth Amendment. This means the government should never take private property from one person and then sell it to another person for any reason. Property taken by the government should be used by the government for a public purpose.

Liberals

Liberals believe the government has the right to seize private property upon the payment of reasonable compensation and to then sell it to another person, if the taking and sale will result in a benefit to the community, in the opinion of the government. Liberals do not believe in a strict interpretation of the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Reparations

Conservatives

Conservatives do not agree that reparations should be paid to the descendants of slaves. Conservatives understand that if reparations were paid, the taxpayers of America would bear the burden and that the great majority of taxpayers are either immigrants to the United States who arrived long after slavery ended, or are likely the descendants of immigrants who came from Europe, Asia, Mexico, or nations that had absolutely nothing to do with slavery in the United States which existed from 1776 to 1865. Thus, reparations would be paid to Black Americans who were never slaves, by people who were never slave owners, or who are even related to someone that owned a slave.

Conservatives point out that the payment of reparations would mean the descendants of Caucasian abolitionists, and the more than 300,000 Caucasian Union Soldiers that gave their lives to free the slaves, would be forced to pay reparations without any moral justification. Conservatives understand that the motive for reparations is to transfer wealth to Black Americans who vote overwhelming for the Democratic Party. Reparations are simply another way to redistribute income and wealth to those loyal to the Democratic Party. See Redistribution of Income. See Entitlement Mentality. See Free Stuff. See Income Inequality. See Keep Them Angry. See Party of Government.

Liberals

The majority of liberals are in favor of paying reparations to Black Americans in order to compensate them for the injustices perpetrated against their ancestors. Liberals tend to either accept the concept of collective white guilt, or want to use the payment of reparations to strengthen their influence over large numbers of Black voters who would benefit financially at the expense of the taxpayers. Liberals have suggested both large cash payments as well as income subsidies for the life of those Black citizens currently living. Liberals ignore the fact that nearly all of the Africans sold to the slave traders during the 1600’s, 1700’s, and early 1800’s were Black Africans.

Religion

Conservatives

Conservatives are aware that the words “separation of church and state” do not exist anywhere in the United States Constitution. Conservatives are also very aware that the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Thus, the government is prohibited from establishing a national church or religion. Likewise, the government may not prohibit the people from acknowledging the blessings of God on government property, including schools. Conservatives believe the government should not interfere with religious freedom and that we are endowed with certain unalienable rights that the government cannot take.  See God and American History.

Liberals

Liberals want all reference to God eliminated from government property and ignore the fact that God is clearly referenced in the American Declaration of Independence which was written and signed by a group of men seeking religious freedom. Liberals also ignore the fact that the Ten Commandments have been displayed in the Supreme Court of the United States, near a statue of Moses, since the completion of the building in 1790.

Restoration of Felons’ Voting Rights

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that convicted felons should not be permitted to vote while in prison, for their entire lives if convicted of a violent crime, and for at least ten years after being released for lesser felonies. This position is consistent with how the majority of states have punished convicted felons since the founding of our nation. It is also consistent with the fact that nearly all states prohibit convicted felons from serving on juries, owning guns, serving in the armed forces of the United States, being employed as police officers, obtaining licenses in many professions, and obtaining custody of their own children in connection with divorce proceedings. Lastly, it is consistent with the fact that the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that prohibiting a convicted felon from voting is perfectly constitutional. Most conservatives believe that people who are unwilling to follow the laws of our nation, should not be empowered to participate in the process that determines what our laws will be.

Liberals

The vast majority of liberals want convicted felons to be able to vote while serving their prison sentences. Liberals argue that the right to vote is so precious that even convicted felons should not be deprived of the right. What liberals will not say is that nearly 100% of convicted felons would vote for Democratic Party candidates if given the opportunity. Given that 5,300,000 people are currently ineligible to vote because they are serving, or have served time for a felony conviction, liberals know that restoring the right of these criminals to vote would result in the Democratic Party controlling all three branches of the federal and state governments for the foreseeable future.

School Vouchers

Conservatives

Conservatives understand that school vouchers give parents the right to choose the best public or private schools for their children based upon their evaluation and criteria regardless of their income. Conservatives also understand that when parents have the ability to decide what schools will receive their tax dollars, schools are forced to compete with each other on the basis of excellence. This is to the advantage of all parents and children. School vouchers allow all parents to send their children to private schools, not just those that can afford to pay both taxes for public schools and tuition for private schools.

Liberals

Liberals have not supported allowing parents to choose the schools their children will attend. Liberals support public schools, run by the government, and oppose allowing parents to use their tax dollars for private schools, particularly if they are religious. Liberals ignore the fact that school vouchers benefit lower income families more than high income families.

Social Security

Conservatives

Conservatives recognize that the Social Security System is headed towards a financial disaster unless changes are made very soon. The current program is simply running out of money because the population is getting older on average and the number of workers supporting each retiree is getting smaller and smaller. When the Social Security System was created in 1935, the average life expectancy was 61.9 years. Today it is 79.8 years. Longer life spans are putting pressure on the system because retirees are collecting funds for longer periods of time. In 1935, workers could start collecting benefits at age 62 with an average life expectancy of 61.9. In 2016, workers could start collecting benefits at 62 with an average life expectancy of 79.8 years. Conservatives want to increase the age requirement for those workers under 50 years of age from 62 to 65. This would make the system solvent once again. If a change is not made soon, more drastic changes will be required in the future.

Liberals

Liberals want to make no changes to the Social Security System. In recognition of the fact that taxes paid by workers entering the employment market are being used to pay current retirees, most liberals believe the massive increase in illegal immigration can be utilized to prop up the system assuming they are given legal status or citizenship.

Taxpayer Bill of Rights

Conservatives

Conservatives favor a Taxpayer Bill of Rights as a means of limiting the growth of taxes and government at the state and local levels. Under a Taxpayer Bill of Rights, total state and local tax revenues would be tied to inflation and population increases unless larger increases are approved by a vote of the people.

Liberals

Liberals oppose a Taxpayer Bill of Rights at the state and local levels because they do not want the people to place any limits on taxes or the growth of government. Most liberals want to increase the size and power of government at all levels.

Taxes

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that taxes should be levied and spent only as strictly authorized by the U.S. Constitution and should be as low as possible in order to promote a strong economy. Conservatives believe that families can do a better job of spending their money than the many layers of government. See: Facts About Taxes and the IRS

Liberals

Liberals interpret the United States Constitution in a way that allows government to tax and spend without limits. Liberals believe the government is needed to make spending decisions for its citizens so that everyone benefits equally regardless of their economic contribution. Liberals want to use the power of the government to tax and spend as a way to redistribute income and wealth from those that create the wealth to those with lower incomes.

Ten Commandments in Public Schools

Conservatives

Conservatives believe public schools should be allowed to be post the Ten Commandments in public schools because they form the foundation of both what is moral and the law in the United States. Conservatives are aware that as you walk up the steps to the United States Supreme Court, near the top of the building is a row of famous lawgivers facing Moses who is in the center holding the Ten Commandments. They know that as you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two large oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each door. Conservatives know that when you take a seat in the courtroom, you see a display of the Ten Commandments above where the Supreme Court justices sit.

Liberals

Liberals object to allowing the Ten Commandments to be posted in public schools. Liberals do not acknowledge that the Ten Commandments are the foundation of what is moral and the law in the United States. Liberals cannot explain why it is permissible for the Ten Commandments to be displayed at the United States Supreme Court, but not at public schools. Liberals are concerned that if the Ten Commandments are posted at public schools, children will read them and that reading them will lead to a discussion about them. Liberals are concerned that reading the Ten Commandments may lead to children reading the Bible. See God and American History.

Tenure for Professors and Teachers

Conservatives

Conservatives oppose tenure for professors and teachers because it provides them with a permanent contract ensuring them a guarantee of employment for life short of extreme misconduct such as having sex with a child student. Conservatives believe professors and teachers should be treated and held accountable like all other employees with no special privileges.

Liberals

Liberals are strong supporters of tenure because they are supported both financially and politically by the American Federation of Teachers, the United Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association, the California Teachers Association, and many others similar organizations. All of these organizations seek tenure and other benefits for their members while supporting the liberals who provide the benefits. Liberals argue that teachers need protection so they can feel free to express unpopular opinions.

Three – Strikes Laws

Conservatives

Conservatives nearly always favor three-strikes laws, the purpose of which is to substantially increase the punishment for those people convicted of more than two serious crimes. Twenty-eight of the fifty states have a three-strikes law in some form. The object of such laws is to discourage crime by imposing increasingly more harsh punishment on those who commit a series of major crimes and who do not learn a lesson from the first and second sentences. Conservatives point out that crime has decreased in every state that has adopted a three-strikes law.

Liberals

Liberals nearly always object to three-strikes laws calling them racist because a higher percentage of black people than white people are convicted under the three-strikes laws. Liberals also argue that three-strikes laws constitute cruel and unusual punishment and are therefore unconstitutional, they will create an unnecessary financial burden on the taxpayers because of longer prison sentences, and they may lead to greater violence against police officers because those with criminal histories are likely to resist being arrested the third time.

United Nations

Conservatives

Conservatives believe the United Nations (UN) is corrupt, anti-American, anti-Semitic, and incompetent. Conservatives point out that the UN has failed repeatedly in its mission to promote world peace and human rights. The constant state of war, acts of genocide, and human rights abuses taking place in many of the nations heading the UN Human Rights Council is indicative of the absolute failure of the United Nations. Conservatives believe the United States should never place our military under UN command and that Americans should always wear U.S. military uniforms and not the uniform of “UN Peacekeepers”. Many conservatives believe the United States should withdraw from the United Nations, relying on standard diplomatic protocol between nations. Conservatives believe the United States should cease subsidizing the UN.

Liberals

Liberals believe the United States has a moral obligation to support the United Nations and that we should use our wealth to subsidize the international organization. Liberals believe the United States should not act as a sovereign nation, but as a member of the world community. Liberals believe the United States should subordinate our national interests to the “greater good” of the global community. Liberals believe U.S. troops should wear the uniform of the United Nations and that our military should be placed under UN command when called upon.

Veterans

Conservatives

Conservatives believe our military veterans have earned the right to expect first rate health care and retirement benefits. Conservatives support making major improvements to the veterans’ hospitals and funding them at levels that will support first class medical services. Conservatives believe that veteran’s pension benefits should be increased immediately to help compensate for the many sacrifices they have made.

Liberals

Liberals have not been willing to make spending on veteran’s benefits a priority. Their focus has been on income redistribution -- taking money from high earners and distributing the funds to those groups that support the political left.

Voter Fraud

Conservatives

Conservatives believe voter fraud in the United States is a serious problem that justifies allocating more resources to making absolutely certain that all elections are fair elections and reflect the will of the people. Voter fraud includes any of the following: (1) Voting by illegal aliens, (2) Voting by non-citizens in the U.S. legally, (3) Voting by under-age citizens, (4) Voting by prison inmates, (5) Voting by the deceased, (6) Voting by fictional people, (7) Voting multiple times in different precincts, (8) Dumping or destroying ballots collected in conservative precincts, (9) Impersonating registered voters minutes before the polls close who don’t show up to vote, (10) Deleting registered voters records, (11) Sending inaccurate information about voting locations, dates, and hours to voters, (12) Intimidating voters so they don’t vote, and (13) Paying people to vote or not vote. Conservatives understand the vital importance of Americans having absolute confidence in the outcome of elections and know that many elections are so close that voter fraud can change the outcome. See A History of Close Elections. See Why Republicans Must Vote.

Liberals

Liberals say that voter fraud is rare and does not warrant voter concern. Liberals are adamantly against requiring people to prove citizenship and age, even once, before being permitted to vote. Liberals say that requiring people to prove citizenship and age is burdensome on the poor, and therefore discriminatory. Liberals understand that when illegal immigrants or underage people vote, they almost always vote for the Democratic Party, and consequently, when people cast illegal votes, it favors Democrats in every election.

Voting

Conservatives

Conservatives believe that every person who registers to vote, for the first time only, should be required to prove they are a United States citizen at least 18 years of age. Conservatives understand that when people vote illegally, it can change the outcome of elections and reduces the influence and power of each citizen that lawfully casts a vote.  See: A History of Close Elections.

Liberals

Liberals are adamantly against requiring people to prove citizenship and age, even once, before being permitted to vote. Liberals say that requiring people to prove citizenship and age is burdensome on the poor, and is therefore discriminatory. Liberals understand that when illegal immigrants or underage people vote, they almost always vote for the Democratic Party, and consequently, when people cast illegal votes, it favors the Democrats in every political election.

War on Terror

Conservatives

Conservatives understand that 99% of all terrorist acts against the United States and the West in the last twenty years have been the acts of Islamic terrorists. Conservatives understand that Islamic terrorists intend to destroy America, and that the United States cannot co-exist with them. Their evil acts include mass murder, genocide, slavery, crucifications, rape and more. Their primary targets have been Christians and Jews. Conservatives believe in taking whatever action is required to destroy the Islamic terrorists wherever they are, as soon as possible. Keeping Americans safe should be the top priority of our federal government. Conservatives believe that terrorists should be incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay and not in the federal prison system where they have an opportunity to spread their poisonous philosophy.  See Pro Gun Sayings.

Liberals

Political correctness has prevented the vast majority of liberals from acknowledging that nearly all terrorism aimed at the United States, the West, Christians, and Jews is Islamic terrorism. They refuse to connect the Islamists with the terrorism that is taking place daily throughout the world. Liberals believe the September 11, 2001 attacks were at least partly the fault of America’s arrogant foreign policy and that the United States must stop making people in other countries angry. They believe that by helping to create more jobs in middle eastern countries, fewer young people will be attracted to terrorism. Liberals believe terrorism should be handled as a law enforcement problem which means those accused of terrorism should be provided attorneys, and if convicted in a court of law, they should be incarcerated in a U.S. prison, not in Guantanamo Bay.

Wealth Creation

Conservatives

Conservatives believe individuals create and accumulate wealth through hard work, saving money, and investing in businesses and real estate. Conservatives believe in working more, saving more, spending less, and wasting less. Conservatives understand that investing involves risk and that profits are earned by entrepreneurs who are willing to take risks with their time and money. Conservatives understand that lower taxes and fewer government regulations make it easier for people to invest, earn money, and create jobs.

Liberals

Liberals believe government programs that involve taxing and spending create wealth and jobs. Liberals also believe that the redistribution of income and wealth benefits the economy. Liberals believe in the saying: "You didn't build that".

Welfare

Conservatives

Conservatives know that some people need and deserve help, but that taxpayer paid assistance should be limited to a person’s reasonable needs. Conservatives oppose long-term welfare unless long-term benefits are absolutely justified. Conservatives believe that people should be provided incentives to become self-reliant rather than becoming dependent on welfare paid for by taxpayers.

Liberals

Liberals support comprehensive welfare programs supported by a progressive income tax system where higher earning taxpayers pay nearly all of the costs of welfare payments, including unemployment compensation benefits for 99 weeks.  The number of people receiving food stamps and receiving Medicaid can be found on the U.S. Debt Clock website.

If you are a conservative, you definitely belong in the Republican Party and should exercise your right to vote in every election. If you are a liberal, please read the material presented on this website carefully. You will learn a great deal about conservatives, liberals, Democrats, and Republicans.

Some Reasons Liberals Despise Conservatives

1. Conservatives accept the Bible’s definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman. In order to demonstrate their “compassion and open-mindedness”, most liberals have rejected the Biblical definition and have created their own definition which includes homosexual relationships. Knowing that they have rejected Biblical teaching makes many liberals uncomfortable. When liberals are reminded about God’s definition of marriage by conservatives, they tend to resent or despise the messenger.

2. While many liberals like to assert that conservatives don’t believe in science, liberals reject the scientific fact that life begins at conception, not when the baby leaves the birth canal. The fact that many pregnancies are unplanned, unwanted, and extremely inconvenient, does not alter science. Scientific facts exist notwithstanding any law to the contrary. When liberals are confronted with the scientific facts of life, many become extremely uncomfortable and tend to despise the messenger of truth. Sometimes the truth is inconvenient.

3. Many liberals are extremely embarrassed by the fact that conservatives have publicized the hateful, unpatriotic rant of Jeremiah Wright, the pastor and “spiritual leader” of Democratic President Barack Obama for twenty years before he was elected president. Blaming America for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and saying “God Damn America” cannot be justified or excused by liberals who despise conservatives for being the messengers who exposed the truth to those interested in seeing and hearing.

4. Many liberals believe that when conservatives argue for lower taxes, it means “conservatives hate minorities and the poor, and don’t want to help them.”

5. Many liberals despise conservatives because conservatives fight to limit taxes and government spending to what is authorized under the United States Constitution. This constantly interferes with the plans of liberals to tax and spend without regard to our Constitution.

6. Most liberals want to eliminate all references to God on all government property and resent the fact that references to God have been present on government property since the founding of our nation. They despise conservatives for pointing out the History of God in America.

7. Liberals resent the fact that Planned Parenthood, which they support without reservation, has been caught on video by conservatives, explaining how they harvest and sell body parts of babies that have been aborted, late term, for profit. At least three horrific videos have been circulated on YouTube.

8. Conservatives sometimes remind liberals that "No Republican has ever owned a slave".

19. Until a baby is born, it is a blob of cells.

20. Global temperatures are not materially affected by the cycles of the sun.

21. American corporations drilling for oil is harmful, while paying billions of dollars to undemocratic, Middle Eastern countries for their oil is not harmful.

31. Public schools must be given more money and protection from private schools, regardless of how poorly they perform.

32. The large increases in medical and prescription drug costs in the last 25 years have been caused by greedy doctors and drug companies and not government regulations.

34. A child can develop self-esteem without actually accomplishing anything.
35. There are no absolutes in determining what is moral.

36. Private citizens do not need to select their own doctors or their children’s schools.

37. It is preferable to risk harming the economy of the United States and increasing unemployment even in wartime, than to allow drilling for oil in areas that might risk the well-being of animals.

38. The National Rifle Association is evil because it supports preserving the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

39. Recessions and depressions are caused by Wall Street, and not by politicians.

40. Most Black people can’t succeed without help, but those who do, or tell others they can, are “Uncle Toms”.

43. Standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
44. Teaching children about Jesus is a form of child abuse.

45. People are basically good.  It is the lack of sufficient income, low-cost housing, a free college education, and free medical care that causes good people to turn to crime.  The federal government has the primary responsibility for providing the needs of the people.

46. Thomas Jefferson was not a Christian even though he attended church regularly and said "I am a real Christian. That is to say a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ".

47. Experiencing illegal drugs is necessary before a person can criticize their use.
